Pests to Monsters

https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/pest/

One fly seems just a pest, but…spiritual battles begin with buzzing thoughts left alone to mutate.  Stay alert, God’s Word provides powerful weapons.*

Pestiferous thoughts allowed free rein can

Evolve into enormous grotesque caricature suddenly

Stealthily stalking mind, invading heart, weakening spirit.  No

Trivial enemy, they’re potent with peril, virulent destruction…  till scissor cut reveals monster is mere paper tiger.

*2 Corinthians 10:4-5

4 “The weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world. Instead, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We tear down arguments, and every presumption set up against the knowledge of God; and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

*Ephesians 6:16-18

“…Take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition. To this end, stay alert with all perseverance in your prayers for all the saints.…”

  1. You are very right dear sister in Christ, shadowy thoughts can lead us astray. Walking in the light now will cause some shadows for sure. They will cause you to flinch, and experience fear. But this jolt of darkness is just a reminder you have a savior who is full of light and offers pure light to guide step-by-step to the Holy City.

I hope you can keep sharing this thoughtful encouragement and insight for all to read.

    Blessings my sister,
    Denny

    • What a lovely and heart-thoughtful comment–thank you, Denny. I especially like what you said, that thoughts can cause us to flinch–that is exactly what I feel so often! I’m grateful for Jesus’ Light, and His comfort ever-near. God bless you, pressed down and spilling over 🙂
