Unfurl Love’s Banner

Unfurl Love’s banner

Christ’s heart, sore world would cover

Redeem and heal lives

We are God’s hands, messengers

Unfurl His banner of Hope

Substandard, Sad Realities

I’ve searched hither and thither

To and fro, far as yon…

Naught in this world allures,

Satisfies for long.

Is it ennui? Am I forlorn?

No, substandard has become

Well acceptable norm.

Planned obsolescence:

Trucks, toasters, TV’s…

And old values viewed as

Lacking today’s relevance…

Just toss ’em, ride slippery-slide to iniquity.

Can’t place all blame on technology,

As though it sprouts up like innocent

But noxious weeds.

Human minds conceive and

Develop improvements—

Watch, gleeful, while the masses

Swallow everything, taste greed.

Cracks appear—distance increases

Between hearts, souls—what was

Meaningful is now missing pieces…

Are people, relationships, the

next substandard commodity?

If so, we need The Savior

More than ever before… Only He

Accepts my haphazard submission

In trade for perfect, guaranteed

Eternal grace-love toward me.

Rebellion’s Neon-Lit Door

Mid-Week Gratitudes

An attitude of gratitude, along with faith and humor, will keep the wheels of life’s cart greased and in good working order.  I learned this late in my years, so I’m trying to double up on my “thank You’s” to make up for the decades of murmuring and complaining.

This week, of course, I’m grateful to be a red-white-and-blue American.  And now that all the fireworks are over, the neighborhood has quieted down nicely 🙂

I’m excited and thankful, too, for my new dictionary.  Laugh if you like—it’s at least 10 pounds, a Webster’s with nearly every word ever dreamed up.  And it originally sold for $70–but, Word-Fans, I got it for a mere $11.03!  Yes, I’m easily thrilled—a bargain hunter at the heart of my poetic soul.

We’re in the first week of July, and I’m very grateful the summer temps aren’t killing me yet.  I hold my breath every time the weather guy starts his local forecast.  And I’ve put those neat blue gel ice packs in the freezer—all of them—I want to be ready 🙂

Mostly, I’m thankful for God’s faithfulness.  His daily mercies and grace keep me afloat—and that trumps mild temps and an unabridged dictionary every week.  *With Him, all things are doable, and the Joy of The Lord is my strength.

Thanks to all my readers, for your lovely comments.  May God bless you with His protection and favor. Jael, 2017

*Bible verses:

Job 42:2
“I know that You can do all things, And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.

Jeremiah 32:17
‘Ah Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You,

Jeremiah 32:27
“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?”

Luke 1:37
For nothing will be impossible with God.”

New International Version
“This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”  Nehemiah 8:10

Midweek Gratitude

https://amaviedecoeurentier.wordpress.com/2017/06/28/midweek-gratitude/

As TJ says, “We can live in a tower built of woe or one of blessings. I prefer blessing with the odd woeful brick for contrast”—AMEN!  Click the link to share your “gratitudes” with him, and everyone else.

♥†♥

Lord, I’m stunned anew with gratitude—

Amazed by the abundant manifestations

Of Your faithful love.

It’s foolish, I know, to be surprised when I’m

Reminded that You mean what You say—

That if we’ll cast our cares on You, You will

Provide whatever we need.

Thank You that You still heal today; that when

Modern medicine fails—and may even make

Us feel worse—You are the Great Physician,

Washing away all trace of a bacterial infection.

~

Thank You, also, for putting a kind, helpful

Road construction worker on a local crew,

To guide my steps safely around gaping holes

And uneven pavement.

So often in life, You make a way where there’s no way.

~

I, too, thank You for my love of cooking—and for

Giving me some amount of natural talent, that I might

Bless the clinic staff with sweet treats during my visit.

My heart feels most wealthy when I’m giving—it’s

That ‘joy of generosity’ You Yourself know.

~

And not least among my gratitudes is the

Wellspring of new hope I have,

As the latter half of the year begins.

You are a good-good Father—

I put all my trust in You.

Pinned to His Shadow

Prompt words:  Water, Ripple, Walk, Within, Ignite, Shadow, Touch, Pin, Whisper, Trance, Rancid, Miracle  https://sundaywhirl.wordpress.com/2017/06/10/wordle-303/

Within rancid heart untended

God’s whisper is touch which ignites

Miracle of faith, hope ~

As He pins me to His shadow

I step out from trance, follow

Rippled water where He walks ~
