Raise Up a Shimmer

Stars don’t drip their glow

On every soul’s borning-day

Rain shadows follow

Have to make our own shimmer

Raise up a shine from within

Great God of Mercy

Whose breath sparked all creation

Same Holy wind brights

Ignites imagination

Raises up shine from within

Long dream, summer night

Dust of Heaven illumines

Stirs heart to shimmer

Pooling on poetry page

Words raise torch ‘gainst dark within

Although I saw this dVerse poetry prompt belatedly, I was moved to write a blessing anyway 🙂  Click the link to read many beautiful blessings.

May the dawn rise to greet you with caress of God’s grace;

And Holy Spirit go before you, opening doors to God’s favor.

May the dew of Heaven refresh you, and the sun warm

Your shoulders as you walk the path God has laid for you.

May the day’s passing hours be kind, and filled

With satisfaction, whether in work or recreation.

As twilight paints periwinkle sky, may you relax into

God’s continual Presence.

His drowsy, much-loved child—you’re safe in the Father’s

Arms as night carries you, hushed, to peaceful sleep.

Spirit-Filled Quills

Quills and inkwells filled

Spirit effervesces words

God calls His poets

Their hearts, like ancient psalmists’,

Pulse, pen souls’ inner passion

Sail to Peace Harbor

Holy Spirit wind

Fills my sail, gentles me through

Uncertain passage

True Eye of God guides vessel

Carries heart to Peace Harbor

Looping Thoughts

Lord, You know the hardest

Thing I deal with is “looping thoughts”:

The clamorous cacophony of an obsessive

Past and Present hurt-angry-resentful

Repetitive mental monologue; my mute

Responses to what others have said, done

Which cause me to feel unvalued, less-than,

Unappreciated, taken for granted,

Used and abused.

These thoughts that loop are swarming

Wasps, a herd of wildebeest

Rampaging riotously through my head;

Uninvited by me, triggered by any,

Every, even trivial things.

How long I have prayed, begged

And besought You for inner healing.

Must I die an old woman, drowned

In tsunami’s looping reel of painful

Scenes with soundtrack?

Will You not rescue, make them

Stop and not return?

Wash my mind/heart in Your Word, Father;

Help me, please, to take these thoughts

‘Captive to Christ’*—‘not by might,

Nor by power, but by Your Spirit’**.

Remind me to lift them to You, and

To shout, “Grace, Grace!”**, that the

Mountain of mortal memories be moved.

For only In Christ are we saved with “sozo”***

Fullness of health and wholeness, restoration ~

I thank You that You have heard me, and

That You answer, Father.

*4The weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world. Instead, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5We tear down arguments, and every presumption set up against the knowledge of God; and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. II Corinthians 10:4-5

Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

King James Bible
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  2 Timothy 1:7

**6Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts. 7What are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain; and he will bring forth the top stone with shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”‘”  Zechariah 4:6-7
